Surviving East High

16 September 2017

In celebration of the anniversary of High School Musical, here is a little tribute to the story that made our childhoods epic!

Oh you look like you're new here. Let me fill you in on the details ... I was once the new kid on the block, and trust me when I say this, you're lucky to have me on your side kiddo. You see East High isn't like other schools. Now you may be thinking I'm crazy here, but seriously, this school is run on a tight-ship. We have a status quo, one that can not be messed with. Unless you want to deal with queen-bee Sharpay Evans that is. She may look innocent from far, but she's as feisty and fierce as you come.

Follow these golden rules and your time at East High shall be a breeze!

1. Find your clique and stick to it.
If you love b-balling after school, make your way over to the jocks. Fan of chem and bio, the lab will do! Once you find your clique, stick with them. They're what you've been looking for; your crew who truly understand you for who you are - you gel. But most of all - you are protected against the herd. Like a gazelle in the wild, if you're alone and running free ... well bad things tend to happen to those who don't follow the rules. Hyenas love to pounce...

2. School Spirit is a must
East High is not like other schools. School spirit is literally in the water here. I'm talking mid-day parade and fireworks on Game Day. It's a celebration of everything that we are. We live and breathe the colours red and white on sporting days. There's just no escaping the wildcat pride. One for all, and all for one!

3. Do not date Troy Bolton. I repeat avoid Troy Bolton at all costs.
You may be thinking who on earth is Troy Bolton? What harm could a high school Basketball legend do? But it's not him you need to worry about. See there are so many wondering eyes on that poor boy. But there's one in particular you need to be careful of ... Sharpay Evans. You'd will be a dead girl walking if she catches you in conversation with Troy. Trust me - that girl has sharp nails and one hell of a kick for a petite blonde.

I can tell you have potential. Keep straight and true, and you'll do well at East High. Good luck!
