Festive Films For The Holidays!

22 December 2014

It's only three wonderful days until Christmas morning, can you even believe it? I for one can't wait, and who knows maybe we'll wake up to the sight of snow in the morning. You really never know with English weather. I love this time of year. I love how the stores play Christmas songs, the art of buying presents for loved ones, and dressing up the Christmas tree. There is nothing quite like this time of year, and we aren't too far away from that special day! So to pull you through this extraordinarily long wait, here are a few films to get you into the festive spirit!

5) A Muppet's Christmas Carol
What is Christmas without 'A Christmas Carol'? Sir Micheal Cane takes on the role of Ebneezer Scoorage in the Muppet's rendition of Charles Dickens  A Christmas Carol. In this movie, Ebneezer is visited by three ghosts of past, present and future, where he learns the error of his ways. Christmas afterall can be a time for redemption. It is never to late to create a new fresh slate in your life. Whatever age you are, this story speaks volumes. Never fails to entertain me, that's for sure!

4) The Holiday
Combining the best of the British and the American way of life, comes a romance comedy about two women who decide to swap homes for the holidays. Their aim - to find peace, contentment and adventure in a foreign land, far away from their boy dramas. Doesn't that sound like fun? Of course they end up tangled in new romances and battling their inner demons of their past. In a strange twist of fate, they end up finding what they were searching for all along.

3) The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe

From the popular book series comes this movie adaptation of four siblings - Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy - who are sent away to live in the country during the time of World War II. In their new home, they find adventure involving the land of Narnia - found at the back of a wardrobe-, which is desperate need of their help. And really - who doesn't wish they had a secret land in the back of their wardrobe? Trust me, I've checked plenty of times for it!

2) Frozen

It's the film that stole our hearts last year! Now I don't know about you but whenever I think of Christmas, I think of snow. And Frozen - has a lot of snow going on with Esla .. Joining forces with Kristoff (the ice breaker), Anna goes in search for her sister Elsa to save their kingdom from the cold, and Elsa from her isolation of loneliness. Frozen will leave you feeling warm and fuzzy with a hint of snow. It embodies the epitome of family, true love and goodness. A perfect film to watch with all the family!

1) Rise of the Guardians

Nothing screams Christmas more than a timely visit from the mischievous Jack Frost. You know, Santa's regular comer on the naughty list. He literally screams childhood with all the cheeky fun he has. When Pitch - the boogeyman - decides to plague the children of the world with nightmares and squash their childlike beliefs, Jack must join forces with the Guardians (the Tooth Fairy, the Easter Bunny, and Santa) to defeat him. It's almost like child telling of the Avengers in the children mythology universe. Such awesome fun!

Got any other films that get you into the Christmas spirit? I wish every single one of you a very Merry Christmas. May you all be blessed with wonderful gifts and great company!
